Porcelain - Cleaning and maintenance

Porcelain is a fairly easy surface to maintain, it isn't very porous and naturally repels water. When left too long without maintenance green algae can become difficult to shift.

Pressure Wash - Standard cleaning process, surface should be cleaned using flat surface cleaner and flat vario nozzle with wide spray pattern.

Turbo nozzle can also be used however the amount of pressure it generates is not necessary for cleaning of this surface.

Softwash (sodium hypochlorite based) - this step isn't necessary unless algae is present. We believe that it's always beneficial to softwash a surface and that it enhances the final result. If green algae is present, sufficient dwelling time will be required and often multiple application in order to fully remove staining.

When using chemicals always refer to health and safety instructions and use appropriate protective equipment.

Sealing - This step is optional, we recommend use of breathable sealant.

Benefits:

- helps to prevent staining

- makes cleaning and maintenance easier

- beneficial prior to using a flowpoint or resin based pointing - helps prevent staining 

Application - 

Before sealing the surface make sure that it's cleaned to the highest standard, any dirt left over - once sealed it will be very difficult if at all possible to remove.

Surface has to be really dry (allow minimum 1 day for the moisture to evaporate after cleaning, ensure no rain is forecasted for minimum 6-8 hours after completion, if surface hasn't fully dried sealant will trap the moisture and create surface whiteness).

Sealant can be applied by cloth or application pad, apply thin coat, to full saturation, do not leave excess.

Try to avoid leaving application marks, always test in small area, allow to dry. Application marks are more likely to be visible on dark colour tiles.
